Despite fiercer competition, BDO once again registered growth in all service divisions. In Auditing, revenue increased by 2.9% to CHF 67.3 million. BDO increased revenue through several notable new mandates, despite the pressure being exerted on fees, thereby further consolidating its strong market position.
Revenue from Accounting Services was up by 4.2% to CHF 64.4 million. This success is the result of a service spectrum that covers all company sizes: BDO performs accounting for small businesses and for the self-employed persons, provides interim services and assumes payroll mandates for large international businesses and business groups.
The Tax & Legal Advice service division reported growth of 2.5% to CHF 21.3 million. BDO has taken targeted measures to create the appropriate framework for stronger future growth in this field. These measures include expanding the range of services in Tax & Legal Advice as well as special services such as Global Mobility.
Financial Services registered dynamic growth of 18.5% to CHF 16.7 million. This indicates that this service division impressively got back on track for growth again in the wake of last year's scheduled reorganisation.
Accolades for business success
The two business and financial information services Thomson Reuters and Experian declared BDO to be the most successful provider of M&A services, corporate transactions and succession planning in Switzerland for small- and medium-sized businesses and companies posting revenue of up to USD 500 million, which also include listed companies.
Abacus-related services reported growth of 8.1% in 2016, making BDO the largest SaaS reseller of Abacus business software in terms of reported revenue. BDO registered 1,500 new app subscriptions in 2016 alone. Abacus Research AG awarded BDO the Abacus Innovation Prize 2017 for its success in 2016.
