Editorial

The coronavirus pandemic continued to exert a strong influence on the economy and society in 2021. BDO looks back on a successful financial year 2021 despite the difficult environment. Revenue increased by 6 percent to CHF 247.1 million. Growth was mainly organic, with contributions from almost all regions, units and service lines.

Challenging economic conditions

Switzerland’s economic actors are operating in an increasingly complex environment. This impression has been reinforced by the pandemic, which led to a shift in habitual practices and activities. Challenges also emerged as a result of dynamic market developments and new risk management requirements. As the Ukraine conflict accelerates the pace of geopolitical developments, these will continue to affect us in the coming years.

Cutting complexity – seeking solutions – building trust

The list of economic challenges is growing and demands fresh perspectives and meaningful solutions. Businesses need to meet the high expectations of their stakeholders on the one hand, and regulatory requirements on the other. Keeping an overview and seeking pragmatic solutions can prove a truly Herculean task for smaller companies in particular. This complex environment makes it all the more important for BDO to understand our clients and help point them towards potential solutions that meet their entrepreneurial and personal needs.

For a professional services firm like BDO, trust is key. We can only be successful if our services are seen as the product of high-quality work delivered by our motivated people. Trust in our brand is based on our strong values and long-term strategy geared towards the needs of our clients.

"Our success is aligned to the pursuit of sustainable, shared impact. Our business activities are characterised by long-term client relationships, motivated people and respect for nature."

Sharing mindsets – shaping the future

By cultivating proximity to our clients at all levels, we offer them security and economic success, and support their sustainable development.

However, there is no fixed definition of proximity. We allow our clients to choose what proximity to BDO means for them. And how, how often, when and to what extent they wish to make use of this proximity. By staying close to our clients not just geographically and in person, but also through our shared topics and mindset, we support our clients in reaching their business goals. Our new claim “Sharing mindsets – shaping the future” reflects this mutual understanding and the way we work with clients as equals and seek to make a long-term impact together.
