International Excellence

«Ultra-premium» – an apt description for the products of The Patrón Spirits Company,
but it’s equally applicable to BDO’s international network and service offering.

«To produce our ultra-premium tequila, we use 100 % pure blue agave from the state of Jalisco in Mexico». The speaker is Dave Lawrence, CFO of The Patrón Spirits Company. Since Patrón Spirits relocated its corporate headquarter from the Caribbean island of Anguilla to Schaffhausen – with support from BDO – he often has the chance
to meet up in person with Andreas Wyss, his client partner at BDO Switzerland. «One of the greatest challenges for us was to ensure a seamless continuation of the excellent client relationship established between Patrón Spirits and BDO USA», Andreas Wyss comments. One extremely helpful factor here was a temporary exchange between BDO specialists from the USA and Switzerland. This made it possible to develop a mutual understanding of the different requirements of the two countries in a very short time, so as to offer high-calibre advice to Patrón Spirits.

Patrón Spirits found that its choice of the right auditing and consulting partner was confirmed. «As an SME influenced by its owners, BDO is the ideal partner for us – and their high levels of specialist expertise in auditing and tax advice are additional factors», Dave Lawrence adds. «Especially in connection with international mandates, it’s essential to take a proactive approach to clients so that we can promptly identify external influences on their business and set out appropriate alternative solutions. This requires a regular exchange of ideas going beyond the scope of the service to be provided. It’s essential so that clients sense our interest in their business and their problems», Andreas Wyss notes with conviction.
